Five AA Red Star Whatley Manor Hotel and Spa is an elegant 19th century Grade II-listed Cotswold manor house hotel with 23 bedrooms and two restaurants, including The Dining Room, which holds two Michelin stars. The hotel has recently been awarded a five-globe accreditation from EarthCheck to demonstrate its commitment to sustainability.
The hotel’s Aquarias Spa is the perfect spot to rest and recharge and facilities include an indoor/outdoor hydrotherapy pool, tepidarium with heated stone recliners, salt scrub showers, thermal suite and six treatment rooms.
New to the spa is the Floatation Pod which offers a unique experience that benefits both mind and body.
The purpose-built iso-pod suite is filled with 500 kg of Epsom salts mixed with 1,000 litres of water and is set to body temperature, meaning it is gravity-defiant and possible to float effortlessly, therefore relaxing muscles and releasing any tension.
At the start of each session the lights dim, relaxing music is played, and it is perfectly safe to drift off to sleep. How the pod is used is up to each individual; the lid can be kept open or closed, and the lighting can be changed according to one’s preferences.
The Floatation Pod experience can be booked as a standalone session (60 minutes, £56) or as a course of five sessions (£250).
