Just outside of Alton, and a ½ hour drive away from Milestone Museum, is the humble home of the iconic author Jane Austen. Watercress Steam Railway is located approximately 40 minutes from Tylney Hall Hotel, and is a lovely day out for those who like to voyage through the great outdoors. The Watercress Line is part of the old British Railway, and it is the aim of Mid-Hants Railway Preservation Society to operate and exhibit steam engines for the benefit of its visitors. In order to educate those of all ages the Watercress invites the younger train lover to events like the ‘Peppa Pig’ day where children under the age of 2 entering for free, and children aged 2-16yrs can enter for £7.
