Once a grand shooting lodge, The Torridon enjoys one of the most impressive coastal positions in the Scottish Highlands.

The building has been lovingly restored to its original splendour, and the 19 bedrooms are all individually designed with fine furnishings and fabrics, decorated to ensure the utmost in comfort and luxury. Many have fantastic views across the loch to the mountains.

The kitchen prides itself on tradition. Award-winning chef David Barnett produces excellent menus and is highly commended by some of the top cookery writers in the world. He transforms fresh, local produce into simple yet delicious dishes, earning The Torridon 3 rosettes from the AA in 2011.

The hotel is in one of the most idyllic and romantic locations in the Highlands, and an ideal venue for an intimate wedding celebration. The ceremony can take place either in the library or the drawing room or even on the lawn, and the evening can be rounded off with Ceilidh dancing.

The Torridon offers a special bonus in the form of Torridon Activities – a chance to experience kayaking, climbing and a host of other adventure activities.

By Road

From Inverness, cross the Kessock bridge and head for Ullapool (A835). Just beyond the village of Garve, at the A832 turn left, signposted Kyle of Lochalsh. Follow this road all the way to Achnasheen. Once at Achnasheen, continue on the road to Kinlochewe (do not take the turn off to the Kyle of Lochalsh). The road narrows into single track, and the distance to Kinlochewe is 10 miles. In Kinlochewe, pass the hotel on the left, and take the next road left (A896) to Torridon. After 10 miles, pass Torridon Village turnoff; the hotel's driveway is one mile beyond on the right.

The gardens at Inverewe are one of the most popular tourist attractions in Scotland, with a variety of exotic plant species. There are extensive views from both high and low vantage points of the Loch (Ewe) as well as the surround Highlands and out to sea. The gardens are open from the end of March to the end of September.

Isle of Skye

If you fancy a walk, climbing or simply glorious scenery, the Isle of Skye is a particularly famous mountain area to visit. 9,000 people live on the island but because of its popularity it is home to cottage museums, many craft shops and water sport activities such as canoeing, windsurfing and yachting. In addition to this there are historic exhibits, nature trails, Dunvegan Castle (open all year round) and plenty of places to stop and eat along the way.
