The Lake Country House & Spa
Llangammarch Wells, Powys
There’s a sense of calm at The Lake Country House and Spa that hits you from the moment you leave the main roads and follow the country lanes that lead to the front door.
Perhaps it’s the location – a quiet spot on the banks of the River Irfon, surrounded by lakes that are a haven for wildlife. Perhaps it’s because this country house was a barium spa as far back as the 19th century; its fabled healing waters attracting the rich, royal and famous from across Europe.
The spa adds to the sense of calm as does the unbeatable feeling of being outdoors amongst the elements – the walks around the house are world-class.
Inside this mock-Tudor style country home, its history as an 1840s hunting and fishing lodge is evident. Relax amongst the heirlooms, plush sofas, and wood burners crackling. Upstairs sink into a raised bath and high canopied bed.
