In the heart of the dramatic Sussex Downs, less than an hour from Central London lies South Lodge, an inspired and spacious retreat to indulge yourself with fine wine, gourmet food and unbeatable horizons.

Built in 1883, South Lodge is a magnificent, former family country house – the perfect place to relax, unwind and enjoy the finer things in life.

Each of the 89 bedrooms in this Country House Hotel has been individually designed so no two are the same – all have hand-made mattresses, some have four poster beds and two baths, many have remarkable views and two have their own open-air, bubbling hot tubs

New for 2019 The Spa includes a host of experiences such as 22m x 10m infinity pool, wild swimming pool, infused sauna, herbal steam rooms, state of the art gym equipment, studio classes, 14 nature themed treatment rooms, Ridgeview beauty bar and the Botanica restaurant with scenic views and alfresco terrace dining.

There are several dining choices: the elegant Camellia Restaurant complete with al fresco dining in the warmer months, The Cellar which offers lighter bites and with over 200 wines to choose from by the glass, some from our Eno-Round wine serving system, and Tom Kemble at The Pass which has 3 AA Rosettes and is situated in the heart of the kitchen enabling diners to see first hand the creativity and sheer theatre of a busy restaurant team. The Botanica is our brand new restaurant that has opened up with our spa and offers a Mediterranean influenced menu.

Within the 93 acre estate are 260 varieties of rhododendrons, camellias and azaleas which, when in bloom, present a magnificent sea of colour. Enjoy a picnic by the lake, hop on one of the hotel’s mountain bikes, play croquet or visit one of the many local vineyards or gardens just a short drive away.

The hotel is part of Exclusive Collection.
