Pride of Britain’s Hotel of the Year 2013

Northcote, near Blackburn, was once the family home of a Lancashire textile baron, and it still holds the atmosphere of warmth and well being. There is a fantastic cocktail bar and two separate lounges with roaring fires in the winter, where you can relax before your meal in the Michelin star restaurant. There is also a large terrace with views over the surrounding Ribble Valley where guests can enjoy a drink pre-lunch or dinner in the summer.

The hotel’s 18 imaginative and inspired rooms, along with 8 bedrooms in the Garden Lodge, designed by Jill Holst of Ward Robinson, exude highly individual character combining rich and sensuous soft-furnishings, fabrics and wall coverings with highly distinctive furniture and soft, sophisticated lighting. Hi-tech multimedia equipment is discreetly integrated, bathrooms are ultra contemporary and some rooms even enjoy their own private garden terrace.

Northcote’s modern dining room is a fresh, sophisticated setting in which to appreciate the collection of modern art by Malcolm Fryer – and the culinary masterpieces of chef Nigel Haworth, who has held a Michelin star since 1996. Nigel’s wonderful innovative style is truly exposed in his passion for attention to detail and true honest flavours, served in an atmosphere that’s warm, friendly and sincere.

The Northcote Cookery School is one of the UK’s top culinary schools offering inspirational cookery courses from the heart of Northcote’s kitchen. It offers a variety of courses, from skills & techniques; entertainment; themed classes; and premium master culinary classes, with a choice of half days and full days. This really is a unique and intimate experience learning new culinary skills and dishes by professional chefs in a Michelin star kitchen.
