March 2022: kindly vote, new membership application

Farlam Hall

We would like to invite you to vote for a new member to join Pride of Britain Hotels. The application is for Farlam Hall in Brampton, Cumbria. The closest member is an hour’s drive away.

Owners, Joe and Kathy Mares were guests of the hotel and fell in love with the spot over years of visiting the area for hiking holidays. They have lovingly restored the original hotel with 13 rooms and added a further 5 cottages. The considerable investment and refurbishment has taken place over the last 2 years. This beautiful old manor house stands on mature grounds sheltered by 100-year-old trees, a haven of peace and quiet. The area is a walker’s paradise, with the unspoilt North Pennines and the western part of Hadrian’s Wall, museums recounting the Roman occupation all nearby. Lastly, three golf courses, located close to the manor, wonderfully complement the range of activities.

Ownership: Privately owned by Joe & Kathy Mares, General Manager is Max Winder.

The property has been inspected by a board member and also Kalindi. The board endorses this application based on the hotel’s quality & service, privately owned status, high standard of cuisine and aspirations to get involved in the life of POB. As the closest member is an hour away, it is a suitable location and serves well for a stop between England and Scotland.

I would also like to keep you informed that the number of members is likely to remain unchanged by the addition of this property.
