About Lake Country House and Spa

This welcoming Welsh country house is set in its own 50 acres, with rhododendron-lined pathways, riverside walks and a well-stocked trout lake. The grounds are a haven for wildlife... herons, dippers and kingfishers can often be seen skimming over the river. There are resident badgers in the wood, and swans and waterfowl abound. Overlooking these lovely surroundings, the hotel's airy rooms are filled with antiques, paintings and fresh flowers.

Each of the bedrooms and suites is furnished with thoughtful attention to detail. From the windows, ducks and geese can be glimpsed wandering in the gardens - carpeted with daffodils in the spring - which cascade down to the river. Guests can fish for trout or salmon on four miles of the River Irfon and on the three acre lake.

The new spa is a haven for luxury and relaxation. It boasts a 50 feet indoor pool, a fully equipped gym, sauna and hot tub with fabulous views over the lake. Qualified therapists offer a range of health and beauty treatments. There's a nine-hole golf course, tennis court, croquet lawn and billiards room.

Perfectly located on the idyllic banks of the lake, the Spa offers luxurious facilities and service for all our guests.

Spa opening times:

  • The Spa is open from 8.00am-8.00pm every day.
  • Treatments are available from 9.00am-6.00pm every day.

Spa facilities:

There are four spa treatment rooms and therapists offer a wide range of health and beauty treatments. The peaceful 15m swimming pool is supplemented by an outdoor hot-tub set on the balcony overlooking the shoreline. The coffee shop is the ideal meeting place for members and non-members. For the energetic there is a fully equipped gym and for those guests who like to be pampered can take advantage of the massage and range beauty treatments.

Spa Treatments:

Facial therapies, massage treatments, body scrub, wraps and infusions, signature treatments.

Children:

Children of residents between the age of 8 and 16 are able to use the swimming pool between 4 - 5pm Monday - Saturday. On Sundays children of residents and members can use the swimming pool between 2.30-5.30pm. Children under 8 years old are unable to use any of the spa facilities.

Directions

Directions by road

Head west for Wales on the M4 across
the Severn Bridge (toll) to Junction 24.
Take the A449 north, then the A40 for Abergavenny and Brecon, taking the A479 for Talgarth until you join the A470 heading north. At Builth Wells turn right on the A483 (marked Llandovery) then head west towards Garth. The hotel is signposted from here.

The Town of Books, Hay-On-Wye

45 minutes' drive from Lake Country House Hotel and you can explore the northern most point of the Brecon Beacons National Park by visiting the Marches town of Hay-on-Wye. Known throughout the world as 'The Town of Books', Hay has many attractions and places of interest for visitors, some of which include the Castle, the River Wye, Hay Market on Thursdays.

Brecan Beacons National Park

A beautiful part of Wales, with traditional market towns, canal paths and stunning landscapes, The Brecon Beacons National Park gives visitors an abundance of activities to choose from. These activities include anything exploring caves, waterfalls, walks, red kite feeding and much more.

Wales Elan Valley

Owned by Dwr Cymru Welsh Water, Elan Valley is home to dams and reservoirs, the woodlands and most of the Elan Valley Trail. A wide variety of visitors are attracted here throughout the year. Many come for the peace and quiet, some for the wildlife and scenery whilst others refer to take part in more active pursuits. Situated in the country of Powys it's only a 20 minutes' drive from the hotel.
