This elegant 17th-century townhouse is located in the bustling village and harbour of Yarmouth overlooking the sea, with its own private shingle beach. The entrance is large, light and stone-flagged, the drawing room is traditional – tapestry cushions, velvet drapes, a stag’s head and a roaring fire. The 17 bedrooms are individually designed, some with timber balconies.
The new brassiere has a contemporary feel and offers refined yet informal dining overlooking the water’s edge. The menu is modern European, uses local fresh ingredients and is guided by head chef Jose Graziosi, formerly senior sous chef at Rick Stein’s Seafood Restaurant in Padstow.
The George is ideally situated for discovering the island’s historic and cultural sights. There are many places of interest to visit, and an ideal way to discover the island is by walking the Tennyson Trails, or enjoying the blue flag beaches along the coastline. Golf courses are close by, while riding, cycling, sailing and other country pursuits can be arranged.
The George provides a tranquil setting for small executive meetings that require a discreet location, excellent food and high standards of service.
