About South Lodge

In the heart of the dramatic Sussex Downs, less than an hour from Central London lies South Lodge Hotel, an inspired and spacious retreat to indulge yourself with fine wine, gourmet food and unbeatable horizons.

Built in 1883, South Lodge Hotel is a magnificent, former family country house - the perfect place to relax, unwind and enjoy the finer things in life.

Each of the 89 bedrooms has been individually designed so no two are the same - all have hand-made mattresses, some have four poster beds and two baths, many have remarkable views and one even has its own open air, bubbling hot tub.

There are several dining choices; the elegant Camellia Restaurant complete with al fresco dining in the warmer months, The Cellar which offers lighter bites and with over 200 wines to choose from by the glass or The Pass which has 4 AA Rosettes and a Michelin Star is situated in the heart of the kitchen enabling diners to see first hand the creativity and sheer theatre of a busy restaurant team.

Within the 93 acre estate are 260 varieties of rhododendrons, camellias and azaleas which, when in bloom, present a magnificent sea of colour. Enjoy a picnic by the lake, hop on one of the hotel's mountain bikes, play tennis or croquet or golf at the hotel's sister property, Mannings Heath Golf Club, which has two outstanding courses just a short drive away.
