There's always a touch of magic about a private island. Eriska is reached over a causeway - tiny, admittedly, but the Atlantic does flow beneath the little bridge linking it to the Scottish mainland. On this little island, Highland cattle graze, badgers visit the terrace nightly for refreshment, and grey seals swim in the surrounding waters. Distant islands form the backdrop to Eriska's golf course, and other activities include shooting and croquet.
