Bindon was once described as an imposing 17th-century mansion, set in an idyllic pastoral landscape surrounded by delightful grounds and shaded by trees and shrubs. But between 1893 and the present this lovely property, surrounded by rolling Somerset countryside, fell victim to neglect and has only recently been restored to its former grace and beauty by its present owners. Bindon is surrounded by glorious gardens and woodlands, with opportunities for tennis, swimming, cycling and country pursuits such as walking in the neighbouring 220 acre nature reserve of Langford Heath. Lake fishing is available, and golfers are in their element with Somerset's Oak Manor golf course nearby. It's also an ideal stop-off en route to Cornwall and the Eden Project.
The history of the house is fascinating, dating back as far as the Domesday Book, and where better to settle comfortably and read than in the exquisitely panelled Wellington library / bar. The house motto "Je Trouve Bien" over the entrance sums up the perfect sentiment for your welcome. "Enjoy our house as we do," says owner Lynn Jaffa. "Take pleasure in your stay."
