Barnsley House, a Grade 2* listed house built in 1697, is located in the charming village of Barnsley, four miles north-east of Cirencester in the heart of The Cotswold Hills. Once home to the internationally-acclaimed garden designer Rosemary Verey, this luxury hotel now offers 18 beautiful letting bedrooms, most of which overlook, or open onto the world-famous gardens and include the much photographed Laburnham Arch.
The Potager restaurant offers delicious food and stunning views, alternatively there is our very own traditional Village Pub just across the road - both serving fresh vegetables supplied daily by the team of gardeners straight from the Barnsley House gardens.
Tucked away in the secluded grounds and a short stroll down a winding path from the main house (passing a Gothic summerhouse and a private 30-seater cinema along the way) The Garden Spa features five treatment rooms, a steam room, sauna, relaxation room, lounge area whilst outside there is a stone terrace and a hydrotherapy pool. Guests can gaze out over the Cotswold landscape and the spa’s own garden which features a sculpture made from old walling stone and a reflecting pond with waterfalls.
Available for exclusive use, Barnsley House is more your very own countryside retreat than a traditional hotel.

From London: exit M40 at J8 (signposted Oxford and Cheltenham) and follow A40 towards Cheltenham. One mile past the Burford roundabout, turn left onto B4425 (signposted Bibury). After 11.5 miles, you’ll reach Barnsley. The hotel is on your left. From M4 West: exit M4 at J18. Follow A429 signposted Cirencester then Stow. Then follow B4425 signposted Bibury. After 2 miles, you’ll reach Barnsley. From M4 East: M4 at J15, follow A417 to Cirencester. At round about take third exit signposted Bibury B4425. After 2 miles, you’ll reach Barnsley.
