About Tylney Hall Hotel

A grand, Victorian Grade II listed house, Tylney Hall sits peacefully in 66 acres of rich, rolling Hampshire countryside with the tree-lined approach setting the scene for this idyllic destination. This sense of calm is echoed throughout the grounds with the lake, manicured lawns and magnificently restored water gardens, originally laid out by the renowned gardener Gertrude Jekyll.

The level of comfort is typified by 112 bedrooms and suites, all individually furnished and meticulously maintained. In the main Hall the suites and rooms lead off the magnificent wooden staircase that rises from the reception area. Each room is a little world unto itself, and has been decorated and furnished individually with period pieces to enhance its own particular charm. Sweep back the heavy drapes that frame the high period windows in many of the rooms and you will be rewarded with breath-taking views of the rolling Hampshire countryside. Surrounding Tylney Hall are beautiful wooded trails ideal for jogging, a lake with boathouse bridge, an orchard and Victorian greenhouses. The leisure facilities at Tylney Hall include 2 swimming pools, all-weather tennis courts, croquet, snooker and mountain bike hire, whilst golf is available at the adjacent 18-hole golf course. Within the grounds of the estate we can arrange all sorts of outdoor pursuits which include archery, clay pigeon shooting and even hot air ballooning.

Oak Room Restaurant

Haute cuisine is served in the glass-domed Oak Room Restaurant complemented by attentive, yet discreet service. Breakfast is taken in the Oak Room Restaurant where you can enjoy beautiful views of the gardens and lawns. The restaurant is also open for lunch, and in the evenings fine cuisine is enjoyed to the quiet accompaniment of a tinkling grand piano. Head Chef is Stephen Hine, who previously worked as Sous Chef at Oakley Court and completed his training of 5 years at the world renowned, The Dorchester hotel in London. The Oak Room’s accolades include two AA rosettes.

Directions by road

From the M3, Junction 5 - take A287 to Newnham and Basingstoke, straight on at junction with A30, by the Hoggett public house, into Old School Road. Over railway bridge, follow left signs to Newnham and Rotherwick. At Newnham Green, turn right at cross-roads. Tylney Hall will be found after one mile on the left hand side.

The Home of Jane Austen in Hampshire

Just outside of Alton, and a ½ hour drive away from Milestone Museum, is the humble home of the iconic author Jane Austen. Austen lived the last seven years of her life in the quaint farm house where she spent her time revising and writing her most famous works including 'Mansfield Park', 'Emma' and 'Persuasion'. Visitors are welcomed in to this charming home to attend workshops based on writing techniques used by Jane Austen herself, and to exhibitions that pay tribute to the incredible literature she created. Tickets are reasonably priced at £7.50 per adult and £2.50 for children aged 6-16 years.

Hampshire's Steam Railway

Watercress Steam Railway is located approximately 40 minutes from Tylney Hall Hotel, and is a lovely day out for those who like to voyage through the great outdoors. The Watercress Line is part of the old British Railway, and it is the aim Mid-Hants Railway Preservation Society to operate and exhibit of steam engines for the benefit of you to enjoy and share with them. In order to educate those of all ages the Watercress invites the younger train lover to events like the 'Peppa Pig' day where children under the age of 2 entering for free, and children aged 2-16yrs can enter for £7.

A Day Outdoors in Wellington Country Park

Wellington Country Park is situated in 350 acres of striking parklands and is a 15 minute drive north from Tylney Hall Hotel. There are four trails for visitors to explore, that meander through the charmed landscape of Wellington. Family days out can be relished with a number of facilities that include adventure play areas, animal farm and petting barn, enchanted forest and a water play zone. During the idyllic summer months Wellington Country Park offers Family tickets from around £30.

Winchester Cathedral

Winchester Cathedral lies in the charming city of Winchester and attracts over 300,000 visitors a year who come to worship, learn about its lengthy heritage and attend its wonderful events. Throughout the year the cathedral holds organ recitals, a flower festival and the opportunity for visitors to attend spectacular choir performances within its walls. Admissions fees are £7.50 per adults, children under the age of 16 can enter for free.
