The Home of Jane Austen in Hampshire
Just outside of Alton, and a ½ hour drive away from Milestone Museum, is the humble home of the iconic author Jane Austen. Austen lived the last seven years of her life in the quaint farm house where she spent her time revising and writing her most famous works including 'Mansfield Park', 'Emma' and 'Persuasion'. Visitors are welcomed in to this charming home to attend workshops based on writing techniques used by Jane Austen herself, and to exhibitions that pay tribute to the incredible literature she created. Tickets are reasonably priced at £7.50 per adult and £2.50 for children aged 6-16 years.
Hampshire's Steam Railway
Watercress Steam Railway is located approximately 40 minutes from Tylney Hall Hotel, and is a lovely day out for those who like to voyage through the great outdoors. The Watercress Line is part of the old British Railway, and it is the aim Mid-Hants Railway Preservation Society to operate and exhibit of steam engines for the benefit of you to enjoy and share with them. In order to educate those of all ages the Watercress invites the younger train lover to events like the 'Peppa Pig' day where children under the age of 2 entering for free, and children aged 2-16yrs can enter for £7.
A Day Outdoors in Wellington Country Park
Wellington Country Park is situated in 350 acres of striking parklands and is a 15 minute drive north from Tylney Hall Hotel. There are four trails for visitors to explore, that meander through the charmed landscape of Wellington. Family days out can be relished with a number of facilities that include adventure play areas, animal farm and petting barn, enchanted forest and a water play zone. During the idyllic summer months Wellington Country Park offers Family tickets from around £30.
Winchester Cathedral lies in the charming city of Winchester and attracts over 300,000 visitors a year who come to worship, learn about its lengthy heritage and attend its wonderful events. Throughout the year the cathedral holds organ recitals, a flower festival and the opportunity for visitors to attend spectacular choir performances within its walls. Admissions fees are £7.50 per adults, children under the age of 16 can enter for free.
Held at the stunning New Park, the New Forest and Hampshire Country Show is an agricultural show with a difference. This annual summer event features show-jumping, falconry, crafts and much more.
