The great indoors set in the great outdoors. Linthwaite is magically situated in over 14 acres of wooded hilltop gardens 400 feet above Lake Windermere. The conservatory and terrace look west so the sun sets when you’re having your pre dinner drinks! Nowhere is more sublime and peaceful! It really is a place to relax and unwind.
The hotel is only 15 miles from the M6 motorway (J 36). In the grounds are gentle walks, abundant flora and fauna, a beautiful tarn with its own summer house (one of 4 places you can get married at Linthwaite), various strategically located seating spots, and for the really active, a putting and croquet lawn.
Inside, the Lakeland house, built in 1900 as a private residence, has been tastefully refurbished and the interior design is described as ‘Raffles meets Ralph Lauren’, with a contemporary twist. In 2009 a state of the art Loft Suite, 4 new bedrooms and a brand new kitchen with viewing window for guests were added. The service is unstuffy yet professional, friendly and welcoming, like the real fire, which burns in the cooler weather. The staff seem to appear from nowhere anticipating your every need.
The Linthwaite Chefs produce exquisite locally sourced food, fine dining or, for when you want something simple, dishes like Floyd's burger or fish and hand cut chips.
